Routine Wellness Exams
Once or twice a year wellness exams play a key role in maintaining the long-term health of your four-legged friend.
These examinations provide your veterinarian with an opportunity to monitor your companion's health and behaviour over time. When something unusual or out of character arises, we can spot it sooner and address the issue before it becomes more serious.
Wellness exams are also an excellent opportunity for your veterinarian to administer any vaccinations and preventive care that your pet may need, and answer questions about your cat or dog's diet or health.
Targeted Puppy & Kitten Care
To help get your puppy or kitten off to a healthy start in life, proper medical attention during their first few months is essential. Your veterinarian will perform a detailed physical examination of your new fur baby and provide immunizations and deworming medication as needed. We will also test for intestinal parasites and provide treatment if required.
Once your puppy or kitten's first checkup is complete, you will need to bring them in periodically for their required vaccine booster shots.
Diagnostic Testing for Senior Pets
As pets enter their senior years, proactive care plays an increasingly important role in ensuring that they stay comfortable and mobile. During your senior companion's wellness exam, your veterinarian may recommend additional testing to catch any developing conditions, such as diabetes, arthritis or decreased vision.
Tests for your senior pet may include bloodwork, urinalysis, X-rays or ultrasound scans.
What to Expect During an Exam
During your dog or cat's exam at Mapleview Animal Clinic, the veterinarian will perform a thorough physical checkup to get a detailed understanding of your companion's overall health.
Your veterinarian will also check whether your dog or cat is due for any routine vaccinations or preventive care.
Once your four-legged friend's exam has been completed, your veterinarian will take time to discuss any concerns they may have about your dog or cat's overall health and talk to you about their nutritional requirements.
